Below is our recent interview with Nicole Talbott, VP of Sales and Marketing at Booky Call:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Booky Call is the fastest-growing book discovery app in the world. Cleverly disguised as a dating app, Booky Call combines the psychology and functionality of dating apps with a creative book review. Written as a “humanized” dating profile, the individualized reviews go beyond a plot summary to help readers discover and engage with books in a revolutionary new way. Since launching on Sept. 30, 2021, more than 300k readers have downloaded the Booky Call app in more than 200 countries and territories around the world. Booky Call is available for free on both iOS and Android.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Booky Call presents BookyCon: the world’s largest virtual book festival in the Metaverse. This mega meta book festival will welcome 3,000 booklovers. The virtual festival will spotlight critically acclaimed and bestselling authors on multiple stages over the course of the eight-hour event, which will run from 12 – 8 p.m. EST Nov. 12. Tickets for BookyCon are free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: Just as Booky Call revolutionized book discovery, we are excited to revolutionize book festivals. Hosting BookyCon in the Metaverse not only allows thousands of booklovers to attend throughout the day from the comfort of their own homes, but it gives them the ability to interact as though they are at an in-person convention. Each participant will have an avatar they control, walking up to stages for presentations, interacting with each other and with authors during meet-and-greet opportunities, and visiting book club lounges and user discussion areas. Booky Call, through our technology partners, has constructed a meta convention space for 3,000 festival goers and 100 authors that will feel more like virtual reality and less like a Zoom call, making this virtual book festival unlike any other.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: Coming soon: Booky Call will reach the incredible benchmark of one million book matches, helping hundreds of thousands of booklovers all over the world find their next book date. The date-abase is growing daily and will have surpassed 5,000 custom book dating profiles for readers to meet within the next six months. Authors and publishers will be able to continue to use Booky Call as a way to introduce their books to new readers by submitting a form at our site.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Research has shown that readers are tired of seeing the same metadata and back-cover information to pick out a book. Booky Call is proud to offer creative content that connects to readers in a new way by writing custom dating profiles from the voice of the book for every title in the app. Wondering what the first-date meal would be with “Pride and Prejudice”? Readers can search for the dating profile to find out. When a reader is interested in a book, they swipe right and receive a DM from the book with links to date it: “Meet in person” for the print version, “keep it digital” for the ebook or let the book “whisper in your ear” for the audiobook.
