Below is our recent interview with Paola Farina, Personal & Event Styling at Paola Farina Styling:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Paola Farina Styling was born in 2018, we take care of personal and event styling (a particular aspect of styling that is designed to create customized ambiances and sets for unusual events). When I started my company, I was back from a very dark period. I began to work in fashion in 2000, as a fashion stylist. Moreover, I had a very long experience in communication and training for NewsCorp and Elsevier. In 2013, I lost my full-time job due to the economic crisis. Differently from Anglo-Saxon countries, where the attention is completely focused on the candidate’s experience, in Italy the age has become a discriminating factor during the human resources’ choice. At 35, I was too expensive and old for the employment market. I remember sending over 1000 curricula without getting any feedback. One day, I was zapping on TV and I stumbled upon a TV show: The Rachel Zoe Project. Looking at Rachel Zoe, I was able to give a name to what I would have liked to become. I searched for a very good school and the choice fell on the FIT in New York and UAL in London. The rest came by itself.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Most of the people do not pay attention to clothing, by judging frivolous; actually, the way we dress says everything about us. Emerging artists come to me but also many ordinary people, from the manager who desires to improve himself to the housewife who is looking for the real being. Having a solid background in fashion, the new image I give to people is something amazing. I always try to understand the person who is in front of me, what kind of goals he/she has, her/his strengths and insecurities.
The psychological and cultural aspect of clothing is what interests me most; in fact, I like to think of myself first of all, as a “soul’s stylist”. The stylistic references are those of the golden period of Hollywood, I love that refined elegance. A reference point is Samantha McMillen, so stylish, cool, modern and terribly chic.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The great thing of the era we are living is that today everyone is able to ask for a personal stylist’s help. Technology allows us to follow customers even from a distance; for example, I use software that makes consulting as if we were in person. I have several customers in America, Europe and Middle East who, then, come to visit me in Milan. Among my services there are:
Express shopping Being busy with many tasks does not give us the opportunity to do some shopping properly. Maybe we have a job interview, a party or an event, but no time to do shopping. Or maybe people can have trouble finding the perfect outfit for his figure. However, there is no need to panic. We can surely help everyone.
Sartorial makeover Asserting our personality also means revising our wardrobe by adding outfits that enhance our personal style. A personal stylist is the perfect person to help you stand apart from the crowd with your clothing style.
Image consulting If a person’s clothing style says a lot about his personality, the same happens for a company and the image it reflects to the outside world. Image consulting is the personal stylist’s skill that allows him to enhance the company’s image, a structure or association. As for the clothing relooking, Paola Farina Styling is able to study customized solutions to expose the image of a company as well as possible.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: There are some projects in progress: agreements with an aesthetic school, a program to train beauty advisors in pharmacies and maybe the relaunch of an Italian fashion brand with image consequences. My dream is to help emerging brands define their own visual identity. Mine is a lean company with low costs compared to large production agencies. I would like to be able to follow some emerging artists in America or anywhere else in the world.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: I believe that mine is first of all a story of ransom and resilience, rather than business. Rebuilding a life by following only a passion is very difficult, especially in a country like Italy, where doing business is an obstacle race. As I said, Paola Farina Styling is a small but very effective reality. Being so “fluent” that allows us to adapt even to customers with limited budgets, always offering highly professional services. We are small but tough, we do our job very well, we are damn good at it.
