Below is our recent interview with Ayhan Akyüz, Head of Marketing & Communications at ESSERT Robotics:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to ESSERT Robotics?

A: ESSERT Robotics is an expert in the field of automation of industrial work processes, based in Bruchsal, Germany. Our expertise lies in cutting-edge robotic automation tailored for diverse industries, with a special focus on the pharmaceutical sector.

Our solutions are pioneering for use in the assembly and manufacturing of small to medium batch sizes with high variance, also known as High Mix/Low Volume (HMLV) production. Requirements in this area include short set-up times, flexible changes to production requirements, modular set-up, simple commissioning and control as well as simple scalability.

The ADVANCED Robotic Workstation is the cornerstone of our standardized robotic automation platform, offering unparalleled functionality and user-friendliness. The ESSERT MicroFactory, a modular combination of these workstations, empowers the automation of entire production chains, providing adaptability to specific production needs and swift adjustments to evolving workflows.

Our commitment to innovation extends to advanced automation systems and flexible robotics, enabling companies worldwide to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Q: Who is your ideal customer and why?

A: Our clientele spans various industries, including renowned names such as Lamy, Roche, Bayer, Siemens. What sets us apart is our unique solutions for the automated production of small batches, offering unparalleled flexibility and scalability.

This adaptability is particularly vital in the pharmaceutical sector, where we’ve acquired recognition, such as winning the ISPE’s Robotic Application of the Year Award (RAYA) for the “Speed Bin Picker” project with VETTER Pharma. Our solutions are successfully applied in medical device assembly, laboratory automation, or secondary packaging solutions for pharmaceutical products.

Q: Any highlights on your latest announcement?

A: The year 2023 was decisive for us. We expanded our production area by an additional 1000sqm, dedicated to upcoming MicroFactory customer projects. Moreover, in August 2023, SHS Capital invested in our company, aligning our collective expertise in the pharmaceutical and life science sectors. Alongside the RAYA Award, we also received the FANUC Innovation Award (Global Robot Partner of the Year) for our MicroFactory.

Q: What can we expect from ESSERT Robotics in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: We are currently undergoing a strategic expansion beyond European borders. Embracing the trend towards smaller batch production is a key strategic opportunity for us, especially given the rising demand for decentralized production triggered by past supply chain challenges and the move towards personalized medicine. In addition, demographic change is driving the need for automated solutions for constant production to the highest quality standards around the clock.

We want to keep pace with this development and offer our international customers solutions for these challenges. Furthermore, we aim to be a renowned name in the pharmaceutical automation sector.
