Below is our recent interview with Izak Shoshana, Chief Executive Officer at YieldX:
Q: What is YieldX?
A: YieldX is a cyber-security solution for biological hazards in livestock production. Using a proprietary architecture of IoT devices, and AI, we have created a neural network that through sensory perception understands the complex production environment, and especially the diversity that can signal on the emergence of possible diseases. At this stage, we focus on the sense of smell (the gaseous component in the production environment) and later we will add additional inputs, such as sound and vision that together will constitute a significant meta-data image for faster and more accurate decision-making.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: As a startup, we run very fast and there are always updates around our advancements. We were recently selected as one of the top tech companies in Nutreco’s feed & food tech challenge. About 150 companies participated in this challenge from all around the world and we were chosen as the final 5 in the livestock segment. In addition, we have officially announced our SEED round and we look forward to completing it by the end of 2022. This is also a great opportunity to thank our existing investors. They believe in complex technologies and our vision and together share our success.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The Livestock industry is one of the most important and significant food manufacturing industries in the world. This is a $ 1.3 billion industry. This industry accounts for about 40% of the world’s food consumption and provides food security for 1.3 billion people. This industry is very vulnerable to diseases, which become periodic, and animals become more resistant to antibiotics. All of this greatly affects both the environment and the quality of the food we consume.YieldX’s value proposition comes precisely to provide a sustainable solution to the most sensitive issue in this complex industry: we predict and early detect diseases in the production environment, and early detect bacteria growth in feed. Many of the diseases transmitted through feed, and while not all bacteria will develop into something that can pose a risk, early detection is critical as it allows for more informed reaction time and decision-making. Right now, we focus on the poultry production, and later on, we’ll provide similar solution to the swine production as well.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: Our end goal is to change the standard of the entire livestock industry so that consumers have healthier food. Within 6 months, we expect to take significant steps to achieve our goals. Our intention is to be with integrations and channel partners in significant pilots. Our focus is the US and Europe and we intend to deepen our operations there.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Today everyone is talking about sustainability and looking for solutions that will solve the various climate problems. We think these problems are much bigger. Just think of any issue of food shortages and food availability in general. YieldX’s solution is a climate-tech solution. Our formula is simple, a healthy livestock means healthy food, food security, and a lower carbon foot print. Our contribution is far greater than our immediate activity.
