Below is our recent interview with Kate Marsden, Marketing Manager at Together for Safer Roads:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Together for Safer Roads is a corporate social accelerator, leveraging private-sector technology, data and expertise to prevent traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities around the world.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: AI for vehicle safety solutions is rapidly evolving. But there is a still a lot of work to do to help drivers perceive and react to situations that can cause serious injuries and fatalities. Our choice to partner with Humanising Autonomy was based their unique focus on vulnerable road users. In other words, their predictive AI helps drivers by anticipating behaviors of individuals OUTSIDE of vehicles and preventing crashes. We hope that by advancing solutions like these we will eventually see a decline in vulnerable road user injuries and fatalities.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The Together For Safer Roads Safer Roads Studio is the focal point for all of our most innovative work. Ultimately our goal is to use innovation for social impact, which in our case means saving lives of friends, family and colleagues. We employ Design Thinking and startup methodology with our industry partners to identify challenging safety spaces, then source promising solutions that can be tested in the real world.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: There are no shortage of issues the road safety community still needs to tackle. We will continue to advance initiatives that improve fleet-related safety for sure. Our FOCUS on Fleet Safety program is poised to reach many many more fleets in need of help creating safety cultures. We also are beginning to take a harder look at the design of larger vehicles, especially as it relates to availability of higher visibility cabs. Drivers can’t respond to what they can’t see or perceive. Finally, we are looking forward to expanding some of our programs into international markets.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: The best thing about TSR is that we are fueled by corporate social responsibility. Many underestimate or discount these CSR efforts. We are fortunate to have many committed corporate members and sponsors, organizations that prove you can do well and do good at the same time. As these companies lead by example, we expect other social impact organizations will be able to tap into the power of private sector motivation to contribute to society. It’s actually not a choice. If we are going to solve some of our biggest social challenges, and road safety is one of them, we need businesses to be fully engaged.
