Below is our recent interview with Abbe Miller, VP/Editorial Director at Techgen Media:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Techgen Media has been covering the metals manufacturing industry for the past 10 years under five magazine titles: FAB Shop Magazine, Welding Productivity, Shop Floor Lasers, Sawing Productivity and Modern Abrasives and Deburring.  We cover the full sheet metal manufacturing process, which includes sawing; plasma, waterjet and laser cutting; bending, stamping and punching; welding and assembly; as well as deburring, finishing and coating.  Considering the number of industries reliant on sheet metal manufacturing and fabrication, we also cover automotive, oil and gas, aerospace and military, white goods, agriculture, electronics and more.  With deep ties to the manufacturing industry, we’re proud to announce the launch of abbe.com, a jobs search website dedicated to careers in manufacturing.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: abbe has strong relationships to various businesses in the manufacturing industry, so we are currently in the planning process with several large employers.  We are also pleased to offer our website services free of charge to employers, job seekers, educational institutions, and organizations and companies that are hosting job fairs and professional development events.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: In addition to our jobs portal, events calendar and schools directory, abbe also features a glossary of job titles applicable to the manufacturing industry along with those titles’ associated salaries, educational requirements and general job descriptions.  Furthermore, we’re hosting training or career-related articles originally published in our family of magazines on the abbe website for visitors to read and absorb.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: As abbe grows, the site will partner with more employers and schools to help job seekers find the information they need to launch or expand an exciting career in the manufacturing industry.  We also plan to use geo-targeting to boost featured job listings and events on our social media platforms to ensure that they get to the folks in those areas that can benefit most.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: The team at abbe isn’t just a bunch of marketing and tech execs hoping to make a buck off of the woes of the manufacturing industry.  Collectively, our team has decades of experience working in the industry.  We have cultivated long-standing friendships within the industry and have heard about their struggles regarding the labor shortage and skills gap.  To say the least, we’re thrilled to offer abbe as a place to celebrate one of the most exciting industries in the world – an industry that is more cutting-edge and sophisticated than most may realize.
