Below is our recent interview with Alexis Dulin, Communications Manager at Sugar Sugar Wax:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Sugar Sugar Wax was founded to give people of the public access to the best method of hair removal that had only been available to beauty professionals until then.
We’d been testing the formula for months before we struck gold and developed a proprietary process for making the sugaring wax that made it user-friendly.
We launched our webstore with our Glow Goop sugaring wax, as well as 3 other products that completed the sugaring-at-home experience on International Women’s Day 2020, just 4 days before the Covid lockdown.
Covid changed everything!
After almost 2 years of developing our formulas, and building our manufacturing facility in California, we had to close it all down before we even got started, and then we had to adapt and pivot.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Becoming a verified brand retailer on Amazon has been an incredible move towards expansion for us. Especially, the recent announcement with our launch of our Amazon store in Canada.
Sugaring has only recently come into the mainstream, and while many people across the US are just learning about it, Canadians seem to be early adopters of the trend. But as you can imagine shipping D2C across the border came with certain challenges.
Now with our Amazon.ca launch, our Canadian customers can get their sugaring wax, fast and without hassle on Amazon.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: Unlike other ‘waxing’ products, you don’t need strips, spatulas or any equipment for our Glow Goop sugaring wax. You simply pinch out a lump and apply it by hand. The formula is soft enough to spread over the skin using your fingertips, and it’s hard enough that when you flick it off, the whole thing holds together in one piece, which can then be reused 8-10 times.
I was passionate about bringing this breakthrough to the market because the process completely eliminates waste from the hair removal process. Once you’re done sugaring an area you just discard your used sugar wax into the compost and it biodegrades because it’s made of sugar.
Our commitment to the health of the people and the planet doesn’t stop there. Sugar Sugar Wax is the first, hair removal product that is sold in custom glass jars. In fact all of our products are housed in glass and paper components.
With our easy-to-use, reusable, and naturally derived hair removal product, we’ve been able to give people a safe and gentle hair removal option. And for people with sensitive skin, and other skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, or other conditions that affect the skin and hair growth like PCOS, we’re quickly becoming the go-to solution.
We’ve now been in market for 2 years with our star product; the Glow Goop, and other body care products like the Silk Slip Triple Hyaluronic Acid face and body serum that’s been garnering a lot of devotion and our Detox Dust drying body powder.
Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: About 6 months after launching America’s First at-home sugaring kit, we were bombarded with messages from beauty professionals asking us about wholesale and product training.
Then one day one of these messages set us on a new course. An esthetician wrote us and said:
“I do sugaring on other people for a living, but when I sugar myself – especially the hard to reach spots – I use your sugar”
This message was a testament to the usability and efficacy of our product. Everything thinks they’ve made the best product, but to get this kind of validation I knew I had to rethink my course. Now we offer a Sugaring Facial Certification Course for licensed estheticians and cosmetologists and in the next 6 months you can expect to see us scale our beauty professionals training as well as our professional products line.
The other big news that will be officially announced in September is that we’re launching a skincare line that is specifically designed for the very people that have found solace in our sugaring products, with sensitive skin and other conditions.
I really can’t say anything about the line other than that the development of these products have followed the same vigorous ingredient scrutiny as the rest of our products, and everything is formulated with the health of our customers and the environment at the pinnacle of our priority.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We came into the beauty and personal care space to change it. Many people might not be aware but most of the things that we have been using topically for the past 50 years have some pretty awful ingredients that have long-term damaging effects on our health.
So the most important thing that we’re doing is raising awareness about these incredibly common yet highly toxic ingredients. And at the same time showing everyone that natural or naturally-derived products can outperform their synthetic counterparts in almost every category of beauty and personal care products.
