Below is our recent interview with Alex Thompson, Founder & CEO at Legaroo:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Legaroo is an innovative “legal tech / travel tech” platform focused on international urgent legal assistance and information (in-destination rules and regulations) catered to the travel industry and its final users, being business and leisure travelers, as well expats, digital nomads, students and young travelers.

Our company is globally unique with operations in more than 140 countries by this year. Our value proposition is to assist international travelers with the objective of solving urgent and unforeseen legal events abroad. Legaroo Assist seeks to assess, assist and hopefully solve legal issues experienced by international travelers, by breaking down barriers such as unknown legal environments, language, customs and culture, by immediately confronting the issue and preventing it from quickly getting out of proportion or becoming an expensive experience.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: The Covid 19 pandemic made the Travel industry crumble. This unexpected havoc has forced the Travel Industry to really pay attention to safety and prevention measures as a way to regain the trust of all segments of travelers. Therefore, as a direct consequence of the pandemic, the mindset of the Traveler leans now towards investing in Insurance and Assistance products that provide comprehensive solutions to the unforeseen and the risks. Legaroo is a unique worldwide legal provider that can complement these insurance and assistance plans in the most efficient and innovative way, as well as to provide retail solutions to the Travel industry, and final consumers.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Legaroo Assist provides wholesale and retail plans that can be allocated by Insurers, Assistance companies, Travel Agencies, Travel Management companies, Loyalty and Membership Plans, Duty of Care platforms, Meetings & Events platforms and also be purchased by final consumers through our website.

Each purchased plan includes a number of legal hours of assistance to be provided by local lawyers (if needed) in the destination country. Therefore, by holding our Legaroo Assist, an international traveler -when experiencing a legal issue abroad- knows who to immediately call, and our customer support system will be in charge to expeditiously connect lawyer with client, in order to assess, assist, and provide steps to solve the issue. 

There is a wrongly disseminated misconception that your Embassy and Consulate would help and pay for a legal issue that you may face while abroad. In almost all cases, the reach of the government assistance generally is limited to providing a list of lawyers, at Traveler’s own cost. 

We jumped to the task of solving slow, inefficient, disorganized and expensive international legal assistance offerings by creating Legaroo Assist, a new, expeditious, efficient, innovative, technology savvy, organized and affordable international legal assistance that would confront unforeseen and urgent legal events while traveling.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: We’re proud to say that in the last months, Legaroo has signed more than 20 commercial agreements with companies in the United States, the UK and Latin America, ranging from Insurers, Assistance companies, Travel Agencies, Travel Management companies, Loyalty and Membership Plans, and Duty of Care platforms. Targeted travel companies such as Luxury Hotels and High End Jet Charters are part of our clientele as well.

In the next 6 months we plan to sign 20 additional commercial agreements and we have raised the interest of important participants in the Employees Benefits spectrum as well as Customer Loyalty, such as credit cards. 

Additionally, We look to provide solutions to the Cruise line industry, particularly hit by the Covd 19 Pandemic, and in great need to regain mainstream trust.

Moreover, Legaroo plans to cover more than 140 countries and jurisdictions by this year.
