Meet HungryPanda – Food Delivery Company Providing Authentic Asian Food
Below is our recent interview with Kelu Liu, Founder & CEO at HungryPanda:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: HungryPanda is a food delivery company, targeting the overseas Chinese community by providing authentic Asian food. Now, we are operating in 10 countries and becoming the largest platform to serve overseas Chinese groups. Receiving $90 million investment in 2020, HungryPanda expands with two more business models, PandaFresh for Asian food and grocery delivery, and VouchersPanda for discounted ordering method online and offline.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Not only focus on the overseas Chinese groups, HungryPanda also wants to become the bridge between Chinese culture and local residents. After four-year operational experience accumulation, HungryPanda has begun to launch its English version to attract the local people for Chinese food, fresh food, Asian groceries delivery services.
At the moment, unlike the rapid digitalization development in China, overseas Chinese restaurants and groceries still have a low digital level. Especially during the pandemic, they are very difficult to maintain the revenue. HungryPanda brought the advanced online operation with experienced team members to support merchants to go online and resume their business with their own culture. After the mature experience with overseas Chinese groups, HungryPanda tries to attract more local residents to Chinese restaurants and stores, to promote the authentic Chinese culture. In the near future, HungryPanda will expand its influence in local residents and provide more English customer services for the increasing demands.
Panda Fresh is the new fresh food delivery service of HungryPanda. The app has Chinese and English versions, to provide over 2,500 Asian fresh food and groceries within one hour. Especially for big cities, such as London, Melbourne and New York, Panda Fresh offers consumers flexible delivery timeslots. To compete with local Asian supermarkets, Panda Fresh aims to provide more selections with the least delivery time and the best discounts to make sure overseas Chinese and local residents have the possibility to enjoy Asian fresh food and groceries.
VouchersPanda is also a new business of HungryPanda. Similar to Groupon, VouchersPanda provides activities, travel, goods and services with local merchants, most of them are Chinese operated. Unlike Groupon, VouchersPanda focuses on Chinese merchants, for example, Chinese restaurants, massage stores and KTV.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: HungryPanda is a worldwide leading Asian food delivery platform. Founded in 2017, the company is on a mission to provide traditional and authentic Asian food, especially Chinese food, to overseas Chinese communities scattered in different countries, through its impeccably professional food delivery services. Presently, HungryPanda operates in more than 60 cities across the UK, France, Italy, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. Moreover, the business is already profitable in the UK and other major cities such as New York and has a clear path to profitability in further locations.
In 2020, HungryPanda received two-round investments, reaching to $90 million, making the company become the biggest Asian food delivery platform around the world.
Now HungryPanda has accumulated more than 1.5 million users, 50 thousand restaurant partners and 30 thousand riders.
HungryPanda has seen a boom in its growth due to the rising demand for Chinese food among people. Despite the pandemic situation, HungryPanda has seen a boom in its revenue by 280% – 400% in different countries.
Besides the food delivery service, HungryPanda also seek for new business models to expand its influence, including Panda Fresh and VouchersPanda, to target the fresh food and Asian groceries market, and provide better service to increase consumers’ use experience.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

Besides, we will plan for market expansion and acquire more customers by some business acquisition and investment.
