Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: The Meet Group owns and operates the most engaging dating communities in the world, including MeetMe, Skout, Tagged, and GROWLr. Serving millions of daters daily, each month, our livestreaming solutions entice our community to spend more than 1 billion minutes in video. The Meet Group’s vPaaS solution powers Live video for some of the world’s largest livestreaming video dating apps. We were acquired in a $500 million deal by the parent company of eharmony, now called the ParshipMeet Group.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: DateNight is an event that is built upon NextDate, a fun speed dating game where you are the star of your own dating game. Over 20,000 NextDate games happen in the US on Tagged every day. With DateNight, we make Thursdays and Sundays from 9 to 11pm ET special on Tagged and members who match during those times can receive a $10 gift card to a restaurant or coffeehouse when they meet in person.
During lockdown, members were hit hard financially, mentally and emotionally. We launched DateNight on Tagged because we found that the majority of members felt it would be good for their mental health to start dating again and we wanted to give them a bit of a “dating stimulus” to help them get back out there.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: We’re different from other apps in the space in that we go beyond dating — allowing our members to connect more naturally and organically. Our members are there for friendship, chatting, dating and everything in between. We have had people find their spouses, their roommates, and their best friends using our applications.
We launched our livestreaming feature in 2017 and through that feature we have created special communities on our apps that make meeting new people fun. Unlike other apps which focus on 1-on-1 video chat, our livestreaming is one-to-many — meaning one streamer engaging with many viewers. Because of this our members don’t have to wait for someone to send them a chat, they can immediately hop into the fun on the app and find a connection, thereby reducing loneliness and increasing entertainment.
Using our Live feature members can chat and talk to their viewers and can also play games like Battles, NextDate, or do a group stream with Multiguest.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: In the next 6 months we will be continuing to enable Live on more partner networks and bring these types of fun social games to more applications so their members can become a part of a strong community.
Additionally, as a leader in online and mobile safety, we are working on a number of industry-leading safety initiatives and partnerships to further advance online dating safety.
Lastly, we’re going to continue investing in our apps and Live communities: developing entertaining shows and creating new ways for our members to date and meet new people.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Though we are one of the few tech companies based out of New Hope, PA, we are a global leader in the space and power the video solutions for some of the largest social apps. Our streamers are celebrities on their platforms and engage with fans and our top streamers have earned over $1 million!
