Below is our recent interview with Jeff Yee, CEO at Airwaive:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Airwaive provides the tools and incentives for the next generation of wireless networks to be built for broadband Internet, mobile devices and IoT. Using Airwaive’s online marketplace, wireless operators connect with property owners to host wireless access points to expand their networks. With Airwaive’s reward program, access point hosts earn income for their participation in wireless networks.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: Airwaive recently announced its reward model using blockchain technology, and a consensus model built around Proof of Connectivity of end user devices. This consensus model is designed to reward access point hosts for providing value to end user subscribers in a wireless network, proving that devices are truly connected to the network and being used. This is especially important in areas that lack broadband access and need guarantees of user connectivity, such as programs designed to solve the digital divide.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The core offering from Airwaive is a free, online marketplace, with two core applications. The first is an application used by wireless operators to plan and design their wireless networks, with business case calculators, 3D maps, and the creation of digital offers to potential access point hosts. The second application is used by access point hosts to find offers from operators, install equipment and generate income.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: In the next six months, the company will launch its blockchain testnet and Proof of Connectivity consensus, making it available to any type and size of wireless operator. Additional features will be added to the Airwaive marketplace, extending its best-in-class 3D visualization tools, to include discovery of equipment manufacturers, fiber providers and installation service companies.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Our focus on solving a real issue across the world, which is broadband disparity, otherwise known as the digital divide. We believe we have a new model, including the tools and the reward programs, to close this gap and deliver broadband to more people around the world using wireless technologies.
