Below is our recent interview with Dustin Zimmer, Marketing & Communications Manager of Carbonfund.

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Carbonfund.org Foundation is a leading climate change solutions nonprofit. We were founded in 2003 and among the first global carbon offset providers. Carbonfund.org has worked with over 3,200 business partners and over 750,000 individuals to reduce over 40 billion pounds of carbon dioxide emissions while preserving over 750,000 acres of forests around the planet. We have supported over 215 renewable energy, forestry and energy efficiency projects in 25 countries and 42 U.S. states while planting over 1 million trees. Carbonfund.org has a 100/100 rating from Charity Navigator and has earned the Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: Carbonfund.org Foundation also has a line of over 1,500 Certified Carbonfree® products. Our Certified Carbonfree® product label was the first carbon neutral certification program in the United States. It is the only U.S. carbon neutral label in Amazon’s Climate Pledge Friendly Initiative Program.

Keilhauer partnered with Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon footprint of their new Swurve conference chair. Keilhauer performed a Life Cycle Assessment to ascertain the carbon emissions associated with the production, manufacturing, transportation and end-of-life impact of their Swurve chair and then chose to neutralize those emissions by supporting a variety of Carbonfund.org’s projects around the world.

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: When a company decides to offset the carbon impact of their products with our Certified Carbonfree® product label they will have access to use Carbonfund.org’s partner logo to help increase brand awareness in the minds of eco-conscious consumers. We will also create partner pages, blogs, press releases, newsletters and social media outreach associated with announcing their products as Certified Carbonfree®.

Carbonfund.org Foundation’s Certified Carbonfree® Products Program is based upon a “cradle-to-grave” Life Cycle Assessment of each product to be registered into our program. Our Certified Carbonfree® Products Program Protocol maintains credibility and transparency due to compliance with internationally-recognized third party standards. We achieve product-level carbon emissions neutralization through validation to requirements set forth by the International Standards Organization (ISO), World Resources Institute (WRI) and Publicly Available Specification (PAS) standardization organizations.

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: In the next six months you can expect to see additional announcements for our business partners registering more products with our Certified Carbonfree® Productslabel. Carbonfund.org’s experience and partnership with Amazon make us a leader in the area of carbon neutrality and we plan to bring more products on board in the near future.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Carbonfund.org’s projects are all subjected to the highest possible quality assurance protocols. Like our Life Cycle Assessments, each of our projects must pass third-party verification and audits. We do this through carbon certification groups such as Verra, Climate Action Reserve (CAR), Gold Standard (GS), American Carbon Registry (ACR) and others. Please visit Carbonfund.org to learn more about how individuals and businesses can offset their carbon impact to help create a greener future for us all.
