Below is our recent interview with Andries Verschelden, CEO & Co-Founder, Good.Lab
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Good.Lab was started to create a more equitable and sustainable economy by unleashing the power of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) data. As companies are increasingly evaluated on a long-term commitment to delivering positive outcomes in their communities, on the environment, to their workers, customers and shareholders, sustainability has become a competitive advantage. We provide strategy consulting and data services that help companies supercharge sustainable impact by making their ESG data actionable and smart. We transform our clients’ ESG data reporting engine to deliver actionable insights to management, reliable data to investors, and transparent data to customers. We are a 1% for the Planet member, as well as a pending B-Corporation.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: We launched in 2020 and have been building out capacity and bringing on beta customers since. We felt now was the right time to invite key investors from our existing networks into what we’re trying to achieve in terms of ushering in a more sustainable and equitable economy.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: Our current offering consists of comprehensive ESG consulting services for companies that may just be beginning their journey into sustainability, for example if they need to bring in expertise for a project related to Carbon Footprinting & Offsetting, Responsible Supply Chain, ISO Compliance or another aspect of ESG. For companies already well into the process of reporting on their ESG data, we offer solutions to help them get a better handle on this data with dedicated services to streamline the processes of gathering, sharing, and assessing ESG data to ultimately boost their company’s ESG performance profile.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: ESG is a huge area of growth as investor requests for company data are exploding. As a result, there has been too much of a focus on ESG reporting and not nearly enough on using that data to move the needle on sustainable impact. We are building services and products to give our clients the tools that enable them to automate the mundane bits, so they can free up their most valuable resources, and position their company as a leader on ESG criteria, all with the data to back it up.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We’re data geeks, and we’re not ashamed! As Good.Lab, head of consulting and co-founder, Liam Bossi rightly points out, “performance means putting data at the heart of your ESG strategy.” Otherwise, it’s unfortunately trending into the area of greenwashing. ESG is the new party on the block, and everyone is invited. It matters for the future we all want, and we believe the key lies in unleashing the power of ESG data.
