Q: Could you briefly tell our readers about your company?
A: Dragonfly Aerospace is an experienced and ambitious team of professionals based in South Africa, developing and produced advanced optical payloads and satellites. Dragonfly Aerospace has a vision to create compact high-performance imaging satellites and payloads that are designed for large imaging constellations that provide persistent views of the Earth in a wide range of spectrums enabling unprecedented business intelligence and improving the lives of people around the world.
Q: Any highlights in your recent announcement?
A: Dragonfly Aerospace, South Africa’s leading manufacturer of high-performance imaging satellites and payloads, has finalized the Caiman Imager Award program. Plan-S Satellite and Space Technologies Inc. from Turkey has been selected as the winner. They will receive a flight model of the state-of-the-art Caiman imager with a resolution of 3 meters designed for 6U CubeSats for free.
Q: Can you give us more information about your offer?
A: We finished our imagery award and announced winner.
Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: We are launching our first in-house developed satellite this year. The satellite EOS Sat-1 will be equipped with the two high resolution DragonEye imagers from the Dragonfly imager portfolio. The side-by-side payloads will allow for the creation of 44km swath images in 11 spectral bands at close to 1m resolution. The satellite is designed for a five-year lifetime and provides full redundancy on all components. EOS Sat-1 is a satellite completely designed and built by our company on behalf of EOS AgriSat constellation.
Q: What is the most interesting thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: We are fast-growing company that combined excellent optical satellite knowledge with New Space business approach. Dragonfly Aerospace is offering to our clients turn-key satellite solution on “one-stop shop” concept. Dragonfly invested in a 3000m² design and manufacturing facility with 1000m² of cleanroom areas for microsatellite constellation production. It allows us to produce up to 16 satellites being built in parallel and up to 48 satellites produced per year.
