Below is our recent interview with Nicole Caba, the Founder and CEO at Avvinue:
Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?
A: Avvinue is a pet travel startup that helps people search and book pet-friendly flights from 500+ pet-friendly airlines around the world. The idea stemmed from our team of pet parents and avid travelers who experienced the pain points of reserving a pet on a flight and all the cumbersome paperwork that followed just to go on trip or vacation with our pet. Once we realized we could build our own algorithm to filter flights from airline pet policies, we know it would be possible to launch the world’s first pet travel booking platform.
Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?
A: We chose to launch our public beta of the Avvinue pet travel booking platform once we felt we were in a good position to make our private beta of 600+ members had been thoroughly tested. And now since launching, we have seen such a tremendous amount of support and excitement from the pet traveling community who has reached out on social media channels and even phone calls to share how much they appreciate what we have done and how much they resonate with our mission to improve the pet traveling experience. One customer referred to us as the “Expedia for pet travel.”
In just a matter of days, we have seen hundreds of people searching for their pet-friendly flights, adding their pet profiles and requesting quotes for their pet travels.
Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?
A: The Avvinue pet travel booking platform leverages the GDS systems in order to find flights from more than 7,000 airline operators and filters flights through our proprietary algorithm to show travelers flights that are available for their specific pet. Since many airlines have restrictions on the pet breed, measurements and other factors, it helps travelers quickly find the right flight for their travels with their pets. Once they book their flight, our online pet reservation system reserves the pet on the airline so that the traveler never has to call the airline and gets access to our 24/7 canine concierge.
In cases where a pet is not able to fly in the cabin on a flight, we work with our USDA-certified and IPATA-approved pet transportation partners to ensure a pet travel plan has been prepared for the pet, as well as provide options for joining one of our private shared charter plane routes when available.
Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?
A: We’re very excited about the future as we continue to pave our way in the travel and pet care industries and have many plans ahead. Our goal and mission is to continue improving the entire pet travel journey for our travelers from searching and booking a pet-friendly flight, pet passport instructions for arriving in a foreign country to reserving pet-friendly hotels and accommodations. Right now, Avvinue is web and mobile-friendly, but soon we will launch the mobile application to the App Store and Google Play Store.
We’ve just scratched the surface on the opportunities, but one thing will remain true – we are building Avvinue with our community and are putting the safety and security of our pets as priority. So we look forward to sharing more on our roadmap with our community and the industry.
Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?
A: Since we are a young startup, it might not be known that Avvinue is founded by a solo, female founder who has a Latina background, was raised in the US and currently living abroad in France with her husband and toy poodle, Coco. The idea of Avvinue came from our personal challenges of traveling, and it’s been exciting journey ever since to connect with people around the world as we travel with our pets.
