Below is our recent interview with Bill Marmor, Editor at Rex Edit:

Bill Marmor started his career at Red Car in 1989. By the age of 23 years, he was editing Superbowl campaigns for Pepsi directed by Joe Pytka. In the next few years, he edited for W+K Nike and Subaru, Coca-Cola, Mastercard, and cut for directors like Joe Pytka, Tony Kaye, Richard Donner, to name a few.

He moved on to be a charter member of Crew Cuts West and expanded his experience working with Chris Wall and Steve Hayden on IBM. During this tenure, Bill won Clio Awards, New York Festival awards, and London awards. Bill also continued his relationship with Mendelsohn Zien and handled the entire Carl’s Jr. account. This proving ground at Crew Cuts paved the way for Bill to open Rex Edit.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: We are excited to announce we are in production for the documentary on Mario Bava, one of the most influential horror film directors in history and whose impact on modern horror is seen today. We are exclusive access to one of his original producers and close friend, Alfredo Leone, who holds the rights to over 13 Bava films. We want to peel back the layers of how he was able to achieve what he did when he did and through example, explore the impressions of his films in today’s cinema. Bava is considered one of the top horror film directors by Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino he was doing Freddie before Freddie!

Q: What can we expect from your company in next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: 2022 is going to be a big year for Rex Edit. Not only the documentary, and in 2021 winning an Emmy for our post-production/Editing for a commercial campaign, UCI HEALTH, but we hope to expand on our capabilities in this area. Editing will continue to grow and expand past our borders. Also, we have a potential feature film/television series deal in the works for the Mario Bava IP we hold, so it’s going to be a busy year!

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: Rex Edit is unique. We are a boutique post-production company that has thrived for over 20 years. But with all that, we are a hands-on company and believe success is measured by the relationships we grow and partnerships that we support. As a team mentality, we are only a piece of the success of a project and understand the importance of helping a project to its ultimate best.
