Below is our recent interview with Auntea Marie, the Co-Founder & CEO at Kids Fashion Week Network:

Q: Could you provide our readers with a brief introduction to your company?

A: Kids Fashion Week Network is a non-profit 501c3 tax-exempt organization that provides a major platform for youth to present their talents to the world. We curate career building platforms and opportunities for kid entrepreneurs under the age of 17. We are headquartered in Washington DC, and have chapters in San Diego, and New Orleans. The children in our network are passionately working in fashion, the arts, entertainment, media, and business. We offer opportunities for growth, networking, and career development in their respective industries.

Q: Any highlights on your recent announcement?

A: We are celebrating 5 years in DC this year! To celebrate, Kids Fashion Week DMV is hosting a “Legendary” Weekend. Friday is the “Legendary Skate Party” in partnership with Hook Hall and Skate Instruction, an unlimited ice cream social for the cast on Saturday, and “Legendary” the 5-year anniversary fashion show on Sunday Apr 23, 2023. This is not your ordinary runway!

KFW’s journey is truly full of highlights, as we are a part of the careers of so many phenomenal children who are working towards their dreams. And we love to see them shine!

Q: Can you give us more insights into your offering?

A: Beyond the tangible benefits of KFW Network. We instill confidence, business savvy, self-esteem, community, social and emotional learning, as well as actual resume-building experiences.

We offer a community for children under 17 years old to connect, grow, and thrive. In addition to our annual fashion shows, we partner with other nonprofits, and community-based organizations to provide educational and creative outlets for the young creatives in our network.

Q: What can we expect from your company in the next 6 months? What are your plans?

A: Next for KFW Network is the Membership platform. This is a way to connect with kidpreneurs year-round whether we are casting for a fashion show or not. They can also connect with each other. KFW members will have access to our photo and video libraries from all cities and events, (past present and future). Members will also receive discounts, perks, and private member events.

As summer approaches, the educational leg of KFW, F.A.B., will be hosting the second annual F.A.B. Summer Camp which focuses on fashion, art, and business. F.A.B. is also preparing for the annual Paint en Blanc event in Washington, DC in the summer, followed by the highly anticipated F.A.B. Awards and Gala in December.

As for the runway, each calendar year is a cycle for us. The DC show is held every April, and the San Diego team is gearing up for their 3rd fashion show which will be held in September of this year. Lastly, the New Orleans team is preparing for their second runway show in December.

We have a packed 6 months ahead of us, but we are excited about the exponential growth of the company and are committed to pouring into the next generation.

Q: What is the best thing about your company that people might not know about?

A: The best thing about KFW is that it is for kids and by kids. Of course, there are adults steering the ship but we have a junior executive team that consists of three children under the age of 14. We also work with kid designers who have made a name for themselves worldwide by making kid and adult collections. We collaborate with kid photographers, DJs, hosts, content creators, interns, authors, community activists, dancers, and musicians. All with a knack for business and entertainment.

As adults working in the same industries, we understand the importance of community. KFW is where creative kids meet, work, and grow with other extraordinary children. It is our hope that they develop long-lasting professional relationships and will support each other on their road to success!
